Five Breweries & One Meadery To Visit on Your Next Trip to New Jersey.

Five Breweries & One Meadery To Visit on Your Next Trip to New Jersey | Sequoia + Salt

When you think of New Jersey do you think of beer? Probably not, well at least not before Bruce Springsteen and The Sopranos. Surprisingly, New Jersey is home to 128 breweries each putting their own flair to brewing. Next time you're touring the great Garden State, here are five breweries and one meadery worth planning into your trip.

Last Wave Brewing Company - Point Pleasant Beach

Last Wave’s outdoor beer garden in the summer, inside seating available as well.

After a long day soaking up some sun at your favorite beach, grab the gang and head over to Last Wave Brewing for a refreshing Island Time Peach Orange Ginger Sour. Highly recommend grabbing a to-go grandma pie from Rosie’s Pizza conveniently located across the street to enjoy with your brews.

Twin Elephant Brewing Company - Chatham

Twin Elephant Tap Room

This women-led brewery has something for everyone. With a rotating selection, you could try something new every time you visit. Whether you need to recharge after a trip to Short Hills Mall or just want to indulge in a Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee this place is worth stopping by.

Beach Bee Meadery - Long Branch

Beach Bee Meadery Long Beach | Sequoia + Salt

Is a meadery technically a brewery? No, but they still produce alcohol on-premise so we’ll let it slide. If you're a fan of fruity cider this place is a MUST. A hop-skip and jump away from Pier Village, The White Chapel Project, and endless food options you could really spend an entire day checking out Long Branch. Try the Blueberry Pomegranate Cider, thank me later.

Garden State Beer Company - Galloway

Garden State Beer Company Galloway | Sequoia + Salt

If an ice cream parlor grew up and turned 21, it would be Garden State Beer Company. Incredibly friendly staff, expansive menu, family, and pets welcomed. If you like coffee ice cream grab a Cooks Corner Cream Ale, a magical light beer with a very bold flavor. Stop by on a Friday night and try your hand at some trivia, or maybe some cornhole.

Hackensack Brewing - Hackensack

Hackensack Brewing Hackensack | Sequoia + Salt

One of the few breweries opened 7 days a week, Hackensack Brewing is the one to hit. Featuring a big screen playing anything from Bob Ross compilations to the hot live sports event and an even bigger beer list to match. If you like something on the spicy side try the Pepper Coast, made with crushed uziza pepper. Conveniently within walking distance of Alementary Brewing Co if you’d like to do a mini local tour.

Cold Spring Brewery - Cape May

Cold Spring Brewery Cape May | Sequoia + Salt

Got a history buff in your crew? Well, this is the stop for you. Visit New Jersey's first non-profit brewery located in a restored barn in Historic Cold Spring Village. Grab a frosty glass of Not Ye Grandpappy’s Sarsaparilla and head out on a guided ghost tour! Truly a one-of-a-kind place, utilizing the architecture, lifestyles, arts, history, and culture found in a rural South Jersey village during the early to the mid-19th century.
